99 5.7 liter vortec Chevrolet Tahoe. first ever four wheel drive and the four wheel drives giving me fits it's a matter of fact two weeks into owning said four wheel drive I remove the front drive shaft to make it to. Pray for me

The 4wd wont switch at all? Also what kind of thump are you getting? When taking off from a stop?

No it's actually at shift points... Kinda. It's really hard to explain but it seems to happen when I let off the accelerator. And it's a very loud thing in the dive train. As for the 4x4, that was worked out with just getting a new interior switch

At least the 4x4 was a simple fix. My Tahoe has always made a driveline clunk but not when the trans is shifting gears. Its the slip yoke on the rear driveshaft at the transfer case which is common. It started making noise while driving and ended up being the u joint seized up but after fixing that I noticed the u joint at the rear end was loose where the straps hold the end caps onto the pinion. I havent fixed that yet but any play will make noise so check all that. Your trans and engine mounts, even leaf spring bushings. These trucks always seem to have driveline clunks. Let me know what happens and good luck

Yeah I fought that fight to. Even used the raquetteball truck
