Attention all 2014/2015 Tahoe owners. You must verify the tow rating of your Tahoe before towing over 6300lb. The towing info on the Chevy website is false!!! It shows that the standard towing for a Tahoe is 8300lbs. The actual standard is 6300lbs. So if you bought a Tahoe thinking it would tow 8300lbs you could be in danger.
I was forced to trade in the under capacity Tahoe and took a loss of over $5,000 because of. Chevrolet’s false advertising and because even my dealer did not know that standard towing was 6300 and not 8300. Make sure you verify with a reliable source. Older Tahoes may have these same issues also!

I'm taking my 2015 Hoe to the Lincoln dealer this weekend to get the 2015 Lincoln Nav with 9,000 lbs. towing and working heated seats, since this hoe's seats hasn't worked since I picked it up.

Wise decision! I have already lost over $5000 because of this mess so moving to another brand is not possible right now. But I will never buy another GM product. Too bad GM because I have been buying GM cars and trucks for almost 50 years.

Good luck Gone fishing! By the way, the website still list Max towing at 8,300 lbs.

You gotta do what you gotta do but I for one would not want to tow 8300 lbs. behind me with such a short wheelbase anyways.

Thanks for the advice raiderron! The most we tow with the Tahoe is a fully loaded horse trailer which weighs 7500. Although we usually only take one horse so the weight is closer to 6500.

Currently we do not. Had not thought of that. Will be purchasing one before next tow. Thanks

From what I can tell, it all depends on your "axle ratio" and what total weight you can tow. I'm planning on towing a travel trailer soon and I called Chevy to verify with my VIN. I have a 2WD 2015 LTZ Tahoe and they verified that I do indeed have the 3.42 axle ratio (8,300 lbs) vs. the smaller 3.08 axle ratio (6,300 lbs).

Take a look at page 9-80 in the PDF owners manual here...

Where are you getting the lower 6,500 pound rating from? Everything I see is 8,500 for 2wd, 8,300 for 4wd both with the taller axle ratio/max towing package. With the 3.08 axle the rating is lower.

Um how do you know the "actual standard" is 6300lbs?
