I got my Yokohama Paradas yesterday, went with the beefier 305/50-20. I had a set of Michelin LTZ M/S 275/55-20's on there, and the whole reason I was switching was to get something with less road noise. When I went into discount tire yesterday, I looked at the pricing on the Michelins that were already on the truck and they are showing as a premium tire and were almost an extra $100 per tire than the yoko's....but I decided to go ahead and get the yoko's anyway because the tires were on the truck when I bought it and the previous owner apparantly didnt bother rotating the tires regularly so there was uneven wear, I'm assuming this is why the road noise was getting so bad.
Anyway, driving home I noticed that the new tires are as loud or louder than the ones I had on there. I realize that a wider tire can create more road noise, but I didnt think it was that much of a difference. I called back to discount and they said they could switch them for a set of Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza's, supposedly the quitest tire available at that price point....but they're the old size (275/55-20).
So, here's the question: If I go to the Bridgestone in the 275/55, is the road noise really going to be that much less? I have a feeling they're just giving me an option to keep me happy, but I dont want to go thru the hassle of getting them switched if its going to be a minimal improvement. The fact that I had a "premium" tire on there already with the Michelin LTZ M/S makes me wonder if going to the Bridgestone (which is a class down) is going to still be louder than what I had originally....Plus I really like the look and feel of the 305/50's....I'd rather just keep them unless the new 275's are going to be whisper quiet.
Sorry for the long post, I dont know too much about tires and am just looking for some expert help before I make a decision :yesnod:
Thx
