Towing with the 4.8

I keep hearing different towing capabilities for an 08' Tahoe with the 4.8. I have the 3.73 rear axle, so how much can I tow?

The information should be in your 2008 owners manual that comes with your Tahoe

In the 2007 Tahoe Manual it's on page 420. See below :thumbsup:

C-1500 (2WD)----Axle Ratio--------Maximum Trailer Weight GCWR

4800 V8---------------3.23--------------4,200 lbs (1 905 kg)
-----------------------3.73--------------6,200 lbs (2 812 kg)

PS: This should be the same for the 08 model as well since the drivetrain did not change for that next model year.

I looked in the manual, and unless I'm reading it wrong, mine states that the max towing is 4800lbs...Um,

In your Manual under the towing section they have a chart that shows the tow ratings for each motor and gear ratio. The 08 manual should have the same.
