I have a '98 Tahoe 2dr sport, and I'm looking to purchase some new wheels. I believe that the standard OE wheels have an offset of ET22. What range of offset can I get away with for the new wheels? For example, would an offset of -15 or an offset of 35 fit? (Just random numbers). At what point does the offset affect things like steering? I'm looking to keep the original 16" x 8" overall size also. Thanks a bunch!!

I think your answer depends greatly on what you plan to accomplish with the new wheels- i.e. Are you looking to give it "stance" where the wheels come out from under the body or are you looking to tighten up the looks by drawing the wheels up under the fenders? As far as your steering is concerned, if nothing changes other than offset, the only issue will be clearance when turning or flexing the suspension; the drivability and handling shouldn't be affected.

edited: I've read multiple sources citing various factory offsets. The best I can determine is that the factory wheels would be either +20 or +33. Most aftermarket wheels in 16x8 are anywhere from 0 to +25 for OBS Tahoes.
