My 2008 Tahoe takes 6 and reads slightly above full.
Ive always done my own oil changes on every car I have owned since 1976 (22 cars). I find it satisfying to know i did it and did it right. At times like mid winter i have gone to a lube place, always found they spilled and didnt clean, didnt tighten, and even found them in the back seat for no reason at all. Also their oil dirtied and burned faster. Cheap oil and cheap (Fram) filters offered there, and to go to a decent oil and filter they charged too much.
Latest ratings puts Valvoline or Castrol and Mobil One or K&N filters top rated. I heard K&N is made from the same MFG as Mobil One.
My sons 2009 Honda Fit cant clear the ramps and we dont want to jack it up, so his car has to go to a lube shop. But they will use your oil and filter, but wont give a discount to use it. Tried to build a 2x12 board ramp but the distance btwn front and back is too small. I digress.
