I've seen in several forums, including here, where fellas use Zaino glazes and then top it with wax, and get an incredible shine. There is one black Tahoe in here that just looked incredibly deep after this- never seen anything like it. But... I emailed Zaino to ask about their products for my truck, as I was wondering exactly what would be the best process. This is what Sal Zaino sent back:

"No... Please Do not put wax on top of Zaino.!!!!! Zaino Show Car Polish is 99.9% optically perfect. Do not put anything on top of Zaino except Zaino. Waxes are loaded with oils to promote a gloss or shine and to temporarily camouflage scratches and swirls. So in actuality all you are doing is putting oil on your Zaino paint finish. That would defeat the whole purpose of my product. Zaino Show Car polish contain no abrasives, harmful solvents or silicones.Zaino will outprotect, outshine and outlast anything in the industry. It will offer more protection than any wax in the industry....Guaranteed! Plus they're extemely easy to use. Zaino polish is a true paint protectant. It will give your paint finish total environmental protection and is the only protectant youwill ever need. You will see!!!"

Obviously, much of that is a pitch for their product. But what do you guys think about that? I believe that it protects well, but don't think it lasts like many waxes. Any of you who have experience with this want to chime in?

I'm guessing that it works and is not harmful, but they don't want people to think that their product needs any help???

Stupid me, I've never even heard of Zaino but it sounds like pretty good stuff. Where do you find it at?

You can check it out at zainostore.com which I think is their site, you can order there too and most products probably average 15-25 bucks or so, and they sell kits. I think i saw autogeeks and autopia have people talking about it, but most of them actually say they use other stuff. But I think those sites don't let you discuss products that aren't endorsed sponsors- it's like communism or something, weird. I also heard that their leather cleaner and conditioner is really good. I don't know anything for sure, I'm just looking around for something with good shine but with max durability, and I don't know that this is it.

And if this is the wrong forum sorry, feel free to move it.

Will I have used Zaino for years on my 95 TA, And 2000 WS6, and my 99 Expedition. It is good, and easy to apply and wipe off but I stopped using it and I never have applied it to my 07 Yukon. My 2000 WS6 with only 34,xxx miles and garage keep is the one I take to car shows I have many 1st place trophies, then there was a time I never placed at all so I was looking at my car to try to do something different then I noitice that the paint was dull and had a film like finish. I stripped the Zaino and went to Walmart and put on some Mothers Wax and the paint looks loike it did the day I drove it off the show room floor. It's darker, and deeper then the Zaino ever was, I know that there are oil's in the wax but it looks so much better, I will never use Zaino again, except for the Z8 spray that is ggod stuff.

Well, I can tell you their products are ok but carry alot of hype.. I have been showing Corvettes since 1999 and I tried their product and have a few buddies that use it and it didn't show me much. Don't get me wrong it puts a shine on their cars but no better than or not as good as some of the other products out there. I can tell you from experience that NXT works great. I took best in show at National Corvette Homecoming in Bowling Green Ky. with my CE Corvette in 2005. My buddies Corvette that took 3rd that same year left it with me the next year I skipped showing mine and helped with his. I put NXT on it got everything ready and he took Best In Show with NXT on the paint at the same event the next year (2006). I put NXT on my Tahoe and Corvette and even my little Ranger yard truck..

Although Zaino, is a quality product.

The only 2 companys that I buy products from anymore, is Megs and Poorboys World. The best 2 out there IMHO.

This a great place for all your OCD car washing needs. :D
Auto Geek

This is the Poorboys World website.

And of course the Meguiars website.

I'm a huge fan of poorboy's stuff as well. His opinion is that his sealers are all you need (EX and EX-P), but topping with his paste wax will add durability. You must let the sealer dry before topping though. At least 48 hours or so, but a week would be better.

For a dark colors, they pretty much say:
Wash
Clay Bar with Spray and Wipe
SSR2.5 - Swirl mark remover for deep swirls/scratches
SSR1 - Light swirl mark remover
EX - Two coats, let first one sit for a few hours, then remove, followed by a second. Then, at least 24 dry hours later, a Third coat.
Top with Natty's Paste wax if wanted. Mostly only needed for non-garage kept cars.

That is the most involved. They also make a Polish with Sealant that is pretty much a one step product that is getting good reviews. I would still clay bar before putting on though.

This is all much easier with a dual action buffer too. I'm a poorboy nut, but I also use his wheel sealant, leather stuff, trim restore (put on with foam brushes), Natural look, Spray & Wipe, and Spray & Gloss. The spray and wipe is great for quick touch ups between washes. Used with a microfiber towel, it won't scratch your paint. I love it.

[/commercial] :D I'm not tied to them at all, just passing on what I've learned from looking at all the detailing boards.

So Zaino is a lot of hype?:skep: :skep:

Lets just say it is a good product but for the money and the time it takes to get it to look right there are better products you can buy. I have friends I go up against at car shows that use it.. I'm glad they do.. :D

NXT is good stuff, I use it on my Black Denali. It's so easy to apply, looks great cause it's synthetic base. Hides scratches and swirls really well, the stuff is awesome. Only downside is that it only lasts 1 wash. Good things it's super cheap, and really easy to apply and remove. My friend uses Klasse on his black M3, and I'm going to borrow it from him and try it on my car this weekend. I'll let you guys know!

Everyone has there own way of detailing, my 2000 WS6 sits in the garage and the I do not use water to wash it, in fact the last time water touched it was when I was caught driving in the rain, I am starting to do this with my 2007 Yukon XL. I make sure there is no dirt, or anything that well scratch the paint then I use my Z8 and I am done. Z8 is the only Zaino product I use now because I had a bad experience with there polish.
