I have recently purchaced a 95' tahoe, ls, 2dr. I want to lift it 4" - 6", have not decided yet. I have seen kits that include a new extended knuckle and kits that do not replace the knuckle. I was wandering if anyone has experiece with either type of kit? Do both kits lower the diff. housing? How does the different kits affect the cv shafts and vibrations? I know in the rear if I stick to block, ride will stay the same but axle wrap will increase. Replacement springs will minimize, but not stop, axel wrap and possibly stiffen the ride.

just looking for experience and opinions.

I agree :uhoh2:

Are you looking to do a pure suspension lift or a body lift or combination of each? Are you looking for a basic bolt on type kit or are you looking to spend some cash and do a custom lift kit probably through a shop? Do you plan on regearing it? Is it a 4x4?

I prefer only suspension with no body but I'll be willing to do 2" of BL. This will not be for serious offroad (I have my 89 4runner for that) so I just wanna run 35s. Mall crawler status. Is the ifs stout enough to handle DD it with 35"s? Prob a bolt on kit.

I've also searched with little success but do the rear windows on a 1995 Chevrolet 4door Tahoe only go 1/3 of the way down!?

It should be the same as my 97, yeah about 2/3rds the way down. The wheel well arch in the door is the limiting factor.

Rear Windows..

That is correct. Due to the rear wheel wells there is no way to make the back windows to go all the way down... What a design fault hu? Its like I could understand child safety so make them go down like half way but my daughter gets Really hot in her seat in the back of the truck... Even with the windows down it doesnt get much for air on her..

yes on the window, I have an early 99 with 4 inch superlift, only welding that had to be done was for the links from the dif support back to the trans crossmember... no joint vibration but there is alot of axle wrap even with the new springs... if your planning to run 35's you will have to go higher than I am because I am running 33 mickeys with a 14 inch rim and if I turn tight and hit a hole they rub the step side and fender...

That's true...I have a 95 and can't find a lot on them. ronjovi

if you want to go bigger than 6 usually have to straight axle it...mine is adjustable 4 to 6 and you cant fit anything bigger than a 33 with out it rubbing (unless you want to body lift it which in my opinion is a joke) when you hit a hole in a turn.... GM made them for the ride not for the offroad....:(

3 months since last post but did you think about ladder bars for the axel wrap, thats what im doing, dont waste money on the springs if theres still a chance on wrap plus from what ive been told with springs the ride really stiffens up.

I have a 1995 4 Door as well. I would like to go up a bit, but I don't need a big kit cause I just run the family around and go fishing. I am considering the dif drop bracket and upper control arms in the front with blocks in back. I am trying to run 33's without rubbing or cutting. I agree with ya'll about the rear windows. It was frustrating when I realized I couldn't get anymore space.
