The thing is I don't get how a new hoist would work either when reinstalling the spare tire.

The secondary latch for my spare tire hoist will not engage. I cleaned and lubed the latch mechanism. The weight of the tire keeps the latch retracted. The dealer said you raise the hoist until you hear 2 clicks and that should engage the latch, but I couldn't get this to work.
