Not to hijack the thread, but is there an easy way to determine how big of wheels you can go on a stock 99 Tahoe without cutting ? I'd like a little more ground clearance some day, and to dress my Tahoe up a bit.
I saw "Toyota Convert", and all I could think was someone whacking you with a Bow Tie emblem on a staff, screaming "COME OUT, FOUL TOYOTA DEMONS ! RENOUNCE YOUR SINFUL WAYS AND EMBRACE THE TAHOE TRUTH !" :ROFLJest:
First one that was given to me was a '58 Impala for HS graduation (In 1983 ! I'm not THAT old ! LOL) Drove it once, we towed it from my grandparents, never drove again (Dad sold it at a foreclosure sale :( ) First one bought for me was a '81 Honda Wagon, brand new engine. Bounced it off a pine...
182K and counting on my 99 :) But Im not the original owner, either. Replaced the fuel pump (Think I ran too close to dry for too long, and it burned the old one up) and the alternator as a precaution (Lady at auto place said it was likely factory) Other than that, no other repairs since I've...
I went looking for the answer to my question, and found *most* of it LOL I understand my '99 Tahoe is designed to use 5-30w, and that's what I'm using. However, does age/mileage change the requirement at all ? Is the 5-30w requirement when it rolls off the line, still valid 182K miles later ?
Victory Lap LOL
I took my '99 Tahoe back to the scene of her first breakdown (drivethrough at the bank), three times :Big Laugh: Also a few errands with the windows down and the radio up. Just enjoyed driving again, I guess.
I know I'm late to the dance here, but...
Need some clarification here. Does the plate around the radio itself come out ? The only instructions I've seen before this basically said "Remove half the dash" My CD player doesn't work, and I'd like a new setup anyway, so how easy or hard this is...
Have you thought about just buffing the chrome that's there (getting rid of the remainder of the black) ? I saw this done in a video, and it looked pretty sharp when the guy was done. Failing that, the smaller logo would look good as well, imho.
I know it's not quite the same, but my 99 Tahoe pulled down a digger pine when a Dodge Ram couldnt hang onto it :waytogo: So, they definately have the oomph when it matters.
I have a 99 Tahoe with the stock radio in it (CD/Tape/Tuner). Unfortunately, the CD player seems to be shot, keeps giving me an error message that amounts to the thing is dirty, so it cant read the disc. I've tried cleaning it, and it didnt help. I just dropped a lot on a fuel pump and...
I have to agree on the higher quality gas. I went with ultra-cheap gas from some shade tree dive of a gas station, and soon thereafter ended up replacing a fuel pump on my '99 Tahoe (Just can't call her a 'Hoe :hahano: ). Worth the few extra pennies to avoid a big repair. Oh, and as far as I can...
My son in law put a new fuel pump on my '99 for me last weekend, and my daughter reported the connections on the lines were a hassle for him as well. They ended up using an tool she had for her Expedition, and its *still* took 2 hours.
