battery disconnect shouldnt cause that problem unless you had it disconnected for a long time or accidentally grounded the pos wire and the af miixture is on a closed loop system when its cold so the idle should not be affected. I would start by seeing if it has any codes.. it probably wont...

dont dump it. get it checked. chances are the yahoo who owned it before you did not service the vehicle correctly. have all your servicable joints checked for wear. also ck wheel bearing play, and tire pressures.

Yep either that or you need the updated calibration from GM. If you pull the brake pedal up hard with your foot it should start working again

most likely the brackets on the bumper bent... kind of hard to find.

left rear on frame behind bumper. its a wire attached to the frame rail with a bolt. it could not be getting proper contact i.e.- loose, corroded, broken connection, ect remove bolt clean area till you see shiny metal put bolt and wire back in, tighten, if you dont have any anti corrosion spray...
