I have a 2001 Yukon XL and am having problems with the antilock brakes. The Antilock brake warning light comes on. The antilock pump keeps running with the engine shut off. I removed the antilock brake fuse and the pump stopped. Now the other brake warning light comes on. The brake pedal is soft; pumping it relieves this problem. Will I be able to stop?

I had the same problem about 2 months ago, ended up having to replace the entire abs module because of it...unless you know anybody who can service them, be prepared to go over to your dealer and bend over:skep:

Pull the ABS fuse, it will stop the pump from running and taking a crap.
Then, you'll need your ABS computer (mounted underneath the car, driver side on the frame, right below the driver's seat) repaired or replaced.
There are a few places offering repair on eBay, but I have no experience with them.

I also had a similar problem with my 2000 Tahoe with at the time around 86,000 miles. It ended up being the wire going from the abs module to the pump had corroded up. The service writer called the warranty company and messed up the whole explanation of the problem and I got the short end of the stick from them. Since I used to work at the dealership one of the guys I used to work with took it apart and replaced the wiring that was bad and I went on my way. The only reason I went in was because the ABS system was under warranty but except for the wiring as I found out.
