2005 Tahoe interior lights

I have some 'issues' with the interior lights in my 05 Tahoe. The major one (according to the mechanic) is with the temp control sliding knobs, the passenger side lighting is out and he says you have to replace the whole part ($300+), is this true?

If so, does anyone know the part needed and how hard it would be to replace it myself?

Next is the lights on the steering wheel for the controls are out, basically same question, can you tell me the part # and if it's an easy fix?

Should I go out and buy myself a set of manuals? Are the Haynes or Chiltons ones any good for these type of issues?

Yes the bulbs on the temp control and the steering wheel conrtols are not replaceable you wil have to order new parts. Unless you want to soider new leds in there place.
