If there are no indicators at all, check the 4WD and Transfer Case fuses in the fuse panel on the driver's side of the I/P. The switch assembly, with the indicators, does go bad, I replaced mine within the last year.

If the indicators do not come on at all (even when you first turn the key on) then it sounds more like the TCCM. Try resetting it by pulling the Transfer Case fuse (or removing the - battery cable) for at least 30 seconds.

You can easily pop out the switch assembly from the dash and do continuity tests on the switches and test the indicators with a 12V source. If you get to that point I can get the pin numbers on the connector. The switches are inputs to the TCCM and the indicators are outputs.

If resetting the TCCM doesn't help you can refer to a document I posted in the Technical Info section on troubleshooting 4WD.
