5.3 FLEX Fuel Owners...city MPG

We've had the Yukon for about a month now and finally figured the MPG on a full tank of E85 @ $2.97/gallon

We have the 5.3L flex fuel, 4WD Yukon with 3.73 gears, and with 90-95% city driving, (I work from home so we rarely drive on the HWY) we got 215 miles out of a tank, averaging 10.4 mpg. The on board computer and my math yielded the same results.

This tank we filled up with regular 87 octane @ $3.57 gallon (17% price spread between E85). It'll be interesting to see the results. I'm pretty sure that running regular unleaded will be slightly cheaper than E85 when figuring the cost per mile.

E85 vs. Reg

Good luck with that. E85 is so close in price out here in Dallas that it actually costs me more in the long run to use it instead of Reg.

I was getting about 80 miles a tank less with E85 (city driving)

I think retailers are gouging with E85. We can drive to Iowa and snag E85 for $1.00 or more per gallon less than regular gas. I just don't have any reason to drive to Iowa...:umn:

Same here. I was getting 3-4 MPG less with E85 than with regular gas. I noticed an improvement when I stopped using the "E15" gas too (we've got a few stations that have gas with up to 15% ethanol).
