5.7 long block or short block?

I have a 1997 Tahoe and I'm wanting to build an engine for it .how do I find out if it is a long block or short block?

Long block includes heads, short block is minus the heads. Do you mean Big Block/ Small Block? It would be a Small Block 350.......

I knew it was a 350. Just didn't know the difference between long and short. Thanks for the fast reply. Going to find an engine sometime

Gotcha, TBI Shortblock is not setup for roller cam/lifters so I wouldnt use it, look for a 96+ long/shortblock for less trouble.......

So it would be best not to go with the 5.7 again? Sorry I don't get what your saying . All I want to do is keep it emission legal . It's my dd. last motor I built was for my 1979 Camaro no emissions then

Keep the 350, if you want to soup it up you will need to reprogram the PCM for the best benefit of the mods tho..... Not like the Camaro would have been where you could rejet/ etc......

Ok I got ya. Not sure what route I will choose . Going to find a block and build it up slowly. Would like more power

It almost has 150000 miles on it so that's stuff that I would go through anyways. Yeh after looking ..... That's not gonna fly with her

I checked into a whipplecharger kit for my 96 GMC and it was $3k I didnt or wouldnt have.....

Yeh that would be cool of I had the cash laying around. I think a engine would better suit my needs and I could build it slowly
