Feel free to leave it blank, however, if you want it very aggressive, just let Justin know that you want the "Jenna Tune" and he will set your shift points like mine. It is a no-nonesense shift pattern, and it will move like no other! :eek2:

I live in Western PA. that is a hilly area, when you say aggressive, is it a jerk type shift or is it constantly shifting, can you desribe it for me please. I want to get going with this as soon as possible

The shifting firmness is smooth, not jerky. The upshift, downshift and torque converter apply/release are significantly altered

Will this affect the tranny?

I'm anxiously awaiting for my turn to get the cable and consequently a tune...

No, not unless you are rough on your Tahoe. I always recommend a shift kit and a vette servo to beef up the tranny as the stockers are not all that robust.

Jenna, which servo are you recommending? 1-2 upshift, 2-3 up, or down, etc... PWM solenoid??

Also, who makes shift kits?

Thanks

1-2 upshift, I would recommend the Corvette servo as it is cheap and easy to install. For the shift kit, I would recommend the TransGo HD2 kit.

Sorry to blow the Vette solenoid idea out the window Jenna....

Here's the Tahoe tranny shift solenoids...

and the 02 Vette (basically C5 Vette)....

Basically all the shift solenoids are the same, with the exception of the actual valve body.

The accumulator piston replaces the factory piece, which is nylon and will crack with higher line pressure.
The separator plate is so that the increased pressure does not force a check ball through the plate.

So are you saying you are using an aftermarket piece that is not plastic? Because again, the C5 Vette and Tahoe shares the same 1-2 accumulator assembly, part # 24220143.

Jenna, I just don't want to order the GM # if it's still plastic...maybe it's aluminum now?

They're still using nylon as far as I know. The aftermarket piece is $10, worth using.

I had to have the tranny in my 2K 'Ho rebuilt last May. I didn't go with the Transgo shift kit as this is my daily driver and from what I could gather, the HD2 is a more aggressive shift kit, more performance oriented, but I could be wrong. I put in a Superior kit. It came with over sized check balls to compensate for a worn separator plate. Once again, don't know what the opinions here are, but too late, it's a done deal. I was also told the Transgo kits take more time to install. I replaced the stock actuator piston with the aluminum one and had the 'Vette servo installed. All very cheap mods as long as the tranny was tore down, especially if they help it wear better and save me another rebuild.

Anyway, that's my story.

What about, vehicles with 92K + miles. I was talking to a friend that drag races weekends. His concern was with a custom tune may shorten the tranny life with the aggressive shift points. With all that said and doing mods to the tranny will it pay for it self as far as gas milage goes, especially if the tranny needs rebuilt after 20K. I have really been researching these custom tunes / and hand helds. I would like to know just how many people with daily usage actually notice a difference or after spending the money for everything if they just won't man up and say it wasn't worth it. I drive to work everyday, <30 round trip w/ an occasional 200 mile trip on a weekend. No offense to Jennabear, but you always seem to go a little ovewrboard, which personally creates a little doubt in doing this mod.

Not quite sure what you mean by this. I was just answering his question as far as what "I" would do to my tranny. These are all mods that "I" have done, and "I"in no way shape or form pass any judgement on what people do or don't do on their vehicles.
Could you please elaborate on what you mean by overboard?

I don't think she's overboard at all. Clean, point driven responses.
I would much rather have that, than around the bush selling.
I work for a large company, am 41 years old and deal with 17-25 year old kids for our business all the time. They don't want fancy wording, just straight facts.

If something is better, say it.

I don't feel it would harm an older tranny, no more than GM allowing it to slip between gears. I don't like how they build superior engines, and regulate them by TM.
IF there is a way to extend tranny life, and for me to get the HP I paid for, I'll take it. :)
