Well, I was at the Ford dealership today- hold on now, I was there to give back my 05 Mustang GT under lemon law. That's another story. ***I just edited here because I don't wanna sound like I was a slick bragger- if it wasn't such a lemon it would've been a cherry the way I took care of it. I ordered it, liked it and could've kept it, but if I sounded happy that's cause I am happy. But like I said full refund on 3 years owning it, just like that. They did say it was in about as good of condition as it gets, which helped them forget about that one scratch (they care these days). So if anyone has any questions I'll try to help with it.*** BTW I'm in California, but I think most states are similar.

Anyway, they had this sick looking Super Duty; black and loaded with a dealer installed 6" lift, and these bronze KMC wheels, and 37s. Don't know who made the lift. They also wanted about 10 grand for this :ack: What I want to know is, are there any Chevy dealerships doing this? I like the idea of no warranty issues. Of course I'm not gonna pay 10 for something worth 5, but is Chevy doing this anywhere, particularly SoCal? And if so, what brand and pricing?

That's another story and I would be happy to answer any questions about my success; I essentially had the car for free for 3 years:smilielol: since they're refunding every penny minus $500 for mileage... So if anyone has any questions I can contribute that way. BTW I'm in California, but I think most states are similar.

my chevy dealer here has some sick looking z71 silvis and tahoes. i know for a fact their dealer installed, but its the only dealer in the area that does it. there are 18 chevy dealer ships with in 20 minuites of my house and this is the only one that does it. check around, im sure in a state as big as california you will find your answer.

There are Ford and Chevy dealerships that sell F150s and Silverados, Tahoes and used to be Mustangs and Camaros modified. They backed the warranty through that dealership only. So if you do find a dealer with a lift, don't expect it to be backed by Chevy.

Thank you, Rolling Thunder. Glad to hear it is practiced, though I should've know it would if Ford and I think probably Dodge do too. You're right if there is one i'll find it. I had already made a list of dealerships in about a 50 mile radius of LA and got 45 (coincidence- one of my favorite numbers). Any comments on how the average or median number dealerships (especially Chevy) these days attitude is when they see a lifted truck showing up for warranty work? I know what they can and can't do by law, but just in a sense of them possibly not liking/ not cooperating or being totally cool these days. Either way i'll probably lift it at 10 or 20K miles and wish I had sooner. And of course, i mean with highest quality parts/ workmanship. Reasonable like 4" and 33".

Oh yeah, gotcha didn't even think about that. That makes it much less valuable, no? Nice call, thanks.

I know that Martin Chevrolet in Torrance has some Silverados on display. Haven't seen a lifted Tahoe on the lot, but I'm sure they will do them too. I drive past there once every couple weeks (on the way home from Costco) and always go a lil slower to see what they've got out front. Looks like mostly 7 inch lifts w/ 20s and 35 inch tires.

You could also check out the Chevy dealer in Huntington Beach on Beach Blvd, i've seen some there too.

I bet there are quite a few dealers out closer to Riverside (909) that will do factory lifts too.

And thanks for the link gonzo, those trucks look cool but I still think your Tahoe would own them.

All dealerships can lift or lower a vehicle for you, they do not do this at the dealership however. They transport your truck to the local lift shop tat they use and 3-4 days later you get your truck back. For lifts most dealerships will use Pro-comp because the cost is the cheapest to them, and for lowering most use eibach I believe, its the exact same thing as if you were to drive down there yourself and have it done except the dealership charges you 10 grand instead of 3 grand

Exactly. Really what it is are aftermarket parts that a dealer contracts how to be installed, to make up some cool lot vehicles.

No connection with GM or the dealer, really, unless it's actual GM kits or parts being used (which don't exist), so as far as the work or warranty it's no different than you buying a completely stock vehicle and having the same things done after the fact.

When I went into Martin Chevrolet, the salesman told me that if i bought a lifted truck from them, then the lift and related suspension parts would be covered for 3 years/36k miles, and the truck itself for 5 years. (when i bought my silverado in 2004)

He also told me if i bought a stock truck and had it lifted at a shop, and tried to bring it back to the dealer with any sort of suspension problem, they wouldn't be able to honor the warranty.

Could have been total BS, but maybe it varies from dealer to dealer whether they want to cover it themselves? Maybe the 3-year warranty on the lift would have been covered by the dealer rather than getting billed to Chevy.

Quote from their website:

Martin Chevrolet is your Orange County Lifted Truck Headquarters: we've been chosen as one of a select few Southern California Chevrolet dealers that are professionally lifting Silverados and Avalanches. All of our kits come with:

6" lift kits
3 year 36,000 mile limited parts and labor warranty
35" tires
Chrome Alloy Wheels

(Not sure why it says Orange County since Torrance is in LA County)

Also... i don't remember exact prices but the lift kits/wheels/tires were definitely more expensive than if you were to do it yourself.

But a 3-year warranty might be worth it for some people...

I know most Chevy dealerships in norcal deal directly with California Concepts for their lot lifts. . .Im not sure if theyre doing the newer tahoes, I suppose so. The way they do it up here is that California Concepts warrants your suspension/drivetrain, while Chevy warrants the rest of the car. And I have heard that its a real PITA to deal with California Concepts and things can get messy. Plus the markup is quite hefty. Personally, wouldn't get involved with that whole deal. Just do your research and get it done at a reputable offroad shop.

Yea I agree Super Dutys are super sick. But comparing that to any Chevy truck when talking about lifts is apples to oranges cuz theyre straight axels instead of IFS.
