I'm close to 160k on my recently customized Yukon, and I'm considering an engine swap. I would like to add a supercharger and I think it would do better with a newer engine and maybe some other performance upgrades.
I have a few ideas but I would like your guy's input. I have an engine stand at my shop and I'm thinking about picking up a salvage 5.3 with 15-20k on it, and mounting a supercharger on it. I might even paint the engine to match the truck.

Questions:
What kind of supercharger?
Any mods to the engine I should do while it is on the stand?
Should I bump it up to a 6.0? & Will I have issues replacing the 5.3?
Any other mods I should do once the engine is out? Steering isn't as tight as it used to be...
And any other input you have on the subject, I'm all ears...:popc1:

I have a Radix sitting in my garage waiting to go on my 5.3. If you have everything already taken apart, I would also throw on some headers, a new cam, springs. You will be surprised with how much it wakes the truck up. My Tahoe already gets up and goes pretty darn well with the cam and headers, cant wait for the blower to go on!

The Tahoe should be hitting the track soon to get a baseline for what she is doing now before the blower gets mounted.

You can find a 6.0 out of an escalade/denali/h2 for pretty cheap now days (especially the lower compression LQ4 which is more boost-friendly) and mod it up before install like Jenna said. I'd look at a mild cam, converter, some longtube headers, and maybe some head studs and rod bolts if you plan on getting a blower. Shot peened stock rods or something stronger will be a good idea if you want to rev the hell out of it. I'm staying mild with my 6.0 until I finish school or find a sugar momma to buy me one of these

Im not sure what it would take, but if you could get the new 6.2L in there I would really recomend that thing, 402 base HP gives you a nice platform to work off of, however (my guess is) it wont be nearly as cheap as the 5.3L or 6.0L as it is defenetly going to be newer.

After that you could just keep it naturally asperated (prolong the life of the motor) and do some smaller mods like cams lifters headers+exhaust and i figure you should be riddin pretty dirty at that point

Does the 6.0 drop into a 5.3 hole without any engine mount changes? What kind of performance would I be looking at if I did all the internals, headers, exhaust w/o the super charger?

6.0 is the same platform so it will bolt right up and should run on the stock tune (but don't step on it until the tune is revised). Mild cam with headers will get you around 400+ to the flywheel on a good tune.
