in accessory mode. Where you turn the key but only one click where it does not turn on the entire car, just where the radio , windows, and whindshild wipers work. anyway while in accessory mode you can shift with out pushing the brake, that kinda scared me as i was lisning to the radio and cleaning under the seats when i came up i banged my head and knocked it in R. Is this normal or a defect??

Hey, on a similar note... does your steering wheel lock when in park with the keys out?

I don't think mine has ever locked. Every car I've ever owned had a locking steering column once everything was off & keys were out. I just wonder if I'm not turing the wheel enough to lock it, if it even does.

it wont steer regardless more than 3 inches each way but you can turn it enough and it will (loudly) click and lock until the key is in.

Cool. thanks for the info. I figured it did lock, but I just don't crank it enough to get there.

Your shifter should not come out of park without the brake pedal depressed. When the brake is depressed, the brake switch activates the shift interlock solenoid which will release the lever so you can shift.

when you turn it on in the run position it will not shift with out depressing the brake. when you start it, you cant shift with out the brake, but in accessory mode, you can shift willy nilly whether your holding the brake or not.

if the truck is running, you press the brake the slightest you here a click and you know you can shift, that does not happen when in accessory mode, should i have the dealer check it out tommarrow. i dont leave anybody in there by them selves who cant drive.

It must not be a defect, mine does that too. If I had small kids, I might think twice about making sure to hit the emergency brake!

we have a 9 and 10 living in the house, but LOTS of little kds (5 and under) around and i park on a hill, thats my worry, but i have made a habit of setting the parking brake and keeping the keys.
