Question, a/c started blowing hot air while my wife was idling in a parking lot, then it started to blow hot air every now and then. I figure no big deal I will just buy the recharge kit and everything will be fine. So I get r-134a w/ subzero synthetic a/c booster with psi gauge. bottle say for ambient air temp psi should be 45-55 mine read about 31psi so I put in the cooliant and it did nothing to help a/c still blow hot and now my compressor makes noises, any ideas??

Bad compressor? Bad fan clutch? Bad condenser?

There's a lot of things it could be... do you notice it cools down while you're driving... and heats up when you're sitting still? Does it EVER cool down? Does the noise sound like a grinding noise? If not, what does it sound like?

Don't use anything but R-134a in your A/C. There is no substitute for proper service proceedure on these or any modern auto A/C systems. Have the refrigerant recovered, then vacuum and charge the proper amount of refrigerant into the vacuum whenever you suspect performance has dropped off. And under no circumstances should any magic additives like o-ring conditioners or sealants be used. They can cause many more problems than they can ever fix. Sounds like you might have trashed the compressor and plugged up your system. If so, get ready to spend some money.

Did you hook up a vaccuum before you tryed to refill it? If the coolant and oil was so low that your compressor wasn't engaging, then it will not accept the new freon if you do not create a vaccuum with an a/c vaccuum pump. So check to make sure that a/c compressor clutch is engaging, and hell, vaccuum it anyway! It's the only way to actually FILL the a/c system
