What is the best service manual to buy (Chilton, Hayes, other)? And where is the best place to buy it?

IMHO, if you can find a mfg repair manual off Ebay or similar, that would be your best bet.

Chilton's would be a close close second.

Hayne's, to me is generalized.

Also if you can get AllData online and subscribe, that would help too.

Alldata is pretty much copied right from the factory manual I think. I really wanted the factory manual for some of my front end work but went with alldata since I could get it for 1/3rd of the price plus all the technical bulletins.

A friend works at a bu-pon-gmc dealer and gave me the 3 thick factory manuals for my grand prix and they're awesome.

Alldata also should but hasnt yet give me an excuse to get up off my lazy butt and set up a spare old pc in the garage. (I have one working and windows loaded but havent cleared a spot for it yet)
