blow dryer, heat about 3 minutes or so, and I used fishing line to run against the paint and the emblem.

Then I used GooGone to clean up the rest of the residue that was left over after I pulled off the emblems and then some carnuba sealer and some wax to seal it up where the emblem was.

I use the same method. Heat it until it's warm to the touch but not hot enough to burn your fingers. Saw behind it with fishing line or dental floss. A couple times I've had to use a little rubbing compound - could see a shadow of the emblem after the adhesive was removed. Little rub and some wax took care of it.

I heated with a hair dryer and worked a credit card behind the emblem, then cleaned up with goo gone. The double sided tape is a pain, and it helps to roll it onto itself over just peeling it off. That can save time.
