I am trying to figure out my wheels and educate myself on wheel size, but i am finding myself confused.

The wheel size (not tire size) on my truck is as follows...

20X8.56-139.7HR18BML

WTF DOES THIS MEAN.... from what i can tell, the 20 is obviously the size rim, i think the next number is the width of the actual wheel (8.56 inches wide) but the rest of the info is a mystery to me.

I need to know because i am thinking about changing rims but i like the way these sit on my truck.

Just tell the tire place that you want the exact size currently on your truck. They'll go from there...good luck!

size: 20 x 8.5
bolt pattern: 6 x 139.7
where....
20 = Rim diameter in inches
8.5 = Width of rim in inches
6 = Number of lug holes in wheel
139.7 = Distance between lug holes (in millimeters)

HR = speed rating

this makes perfect since, the lack of seperation between 8.5 and 6 was fvcking me up...

you know anything about that speed rating?

and how do i figure out what my backspacing is?

A letter from A to Z symbolizes a tire’s certified speed rating which a tire can safely carry a load. The range is approximately 5 mph to 150 mph

H = Speed rating of up to approximately 130 mph
R = Radial construction
18 = Rim Diameter in inches

Backspacing:

backspacing.jpg

yes, this is how i would obtain the info... i just figured that there would be a way to tell by looking at the Rim specs. The reason i ask is not to figure out what the back spacing of MY rims is, but what the back spacing would be for the rims i could potentially buy.

If you like the way your rims sit and look, as you mentioned, then it would only benefit you to figure out what your current backspacing and offset are in order to match that with your new wheels.

Otherwise, just go to any website that sells wheels to see what range of backspacing and offset will fit your Tahoe.
