I wish Chevrolet/GMC would add a Duramax diesel to the lineup in the new Tahoe/Yukon. It would definately give them more pulling power, and better gas mileage. Plus you could add diesel engine upgrades such as Banks, or Edge products, boosting the horsepower and torque (just like in Silverado/Sierra). If they put a Duramax in the Tahoe/Yukon I would buy the first one that hit the lot :D. What do you guys think?? :Chevy:

Personally I am a huge diesel fan, I mean if it were up to me id stuff a duramax in a Corvette. But I really think that the Tahoe would really benefit from one! Although they cost more they are really worth it, I mean they last longer then any toyota could ever dream of, and they get better gas mileage! Plus there would be a big increase in pulling power so people wouldnt have to buy Silverados to tow their BIG trailers. :Chevy:

I've already told the wife we are trading in her Yukon XL the day they put the new 4.5L DMAX in a Suburban! More initial cost, but MUCH better resale,
along with 25-30% better gase mileage. Not to mention the power! Love our Yukon XL, but my 7000K+ lb. Silverado on 35's will smoke the Yukon (both have chips, exhaust & intakes), get better gas mileage, out tow, and hold it's value better.

I totally agree with you, if they ever put a diesel in a Tahoe/Yukon I don't care how much it costs, and how much I love the Tahoe I have now I will buy the first one made. I just love diesels because, like your Silverado, you can add chips to them which give them much better gas milage, and allow you to smoke most cars!! :Chevy:

They would sell like hotcakes! I'd be right behind you guys in line...if the rumors are true, we may get our wish with a slightly downsized Dmax in a couple of years...they need to hurry it up, though! Better mileage, way better power/torque for towing, long lasting...I can't believe it has taken them this long to do it!

I have my fingers crossed, but it looks like it will happen. The new 4.5L DMAX is suppose to fit anywhere a small block V8 will, and will be in excess of 310hp and 520lb of torque. Throw a modest chip on there and you will be well in to 400hp and 600trq range. The engine will be available in 2009 and will be built in house by GM. I have only heard of GM confirming it's use in the H2's and the 1/2 ton Silverado/Sierras at this time, but they would be STUPID not to offer it in the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon's. I am a GM loyalist for life, but sometimes they make decisions that just baffle me (i.e. selling off Allison :cuss: ), hopefully they will get this one right!

I love GM as well, but sometimes they get stuck in stupid mode, like why didn't the H3 start life with a 6 cylinder with a V8 option? All heavy vehicle, Tahoe/ Suburban need a diesel engine.:skep:
The other problem is in the socialist republic of Kalifornia, diesels are just pure evil!

Wow, I couldn't have said it better myself!! When I first looked at the H3 (when I remotely thought about buying it) and I saw it didn't have a 6 cylinder I almost quit believing in GM (then I drove home in my Tahoe, which reminded me why I love them). Hopefully Bob Lutz will make some more intelligent decisions (like putting a Diesel in the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon, and making sure the new Camaro comes out!!) and GM will regain some of its former smartness and realize the dumb decisions they've made. And as far as the Socialist Republic of California goes this smiley should say it all!!!!!!!!!! You've got it 100% right on that one!!

Heres an update: Chevrolet/GMC has a Dmax diesel that they are putting in the half-ton Silverado and Sierra and H2 like gmcul8r said, this is now confirmed. There are rumors (actually more of murmurs) that they will be putting them into the Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/XL. I got this info from Car and Driver, and various Diesel Forums.:Chevy:

Well now the baby Hummer has a V8 option and now it would really be tempting to get one.

As much as the Duramax is reliable, I just dont know if I would want to pay another 2K to the price of an already great running truck. Never have been an avid fan of the diesal, but thats just my opinion, and we all know that opinions are like........well you know.

I definatey respect your opinion! I just love diesels cause they get better gas mileage, more torque, and more aftermarket support! I think it would definatey be worth the extra 2k! :Chevy:

Yea, but they cost almost as much as a Tahoe, and for the money I would much rather have a Tahoe. :Chevy:

The additional cost of a Diesel is returned in better gas mileage along with MUCH better resale value. Nevermind the fact that you can add around 40% HP and Torque with just a chip/tuner!

I bought my DMAX in '05 during the employee pricing and got it for $37K, if I Kelly Blue Book it right now (minus my upgrades) it KBB's for $34K. That's nearly 3 years old and 25K miles later. If I would have bought a gasser, my KBB would be $10K less or more! I also get 18 mpg, with 500 hp, nearly 900 lb/ft torque, 6" lift, and 35" tires on 20" rims, all with bolt on power adders. Not bad at all:thumbsup:

I don't know why, but people have a negative attitude towards diesels, I used to as well. You need to drive one! My well over 7K pound lifted DMAX will still SMOKE my modded Denali while getting 33% better mpg.

You hit the nail on the head right there when you said the word SMOKE. It's been my experience that people's negativity towards diesels is mainly because they see black smoke coming from the tail pipe of an older diesel truck, and this makes them generalize all diesel vehicles as being polluters, and dirty. And they don't like the smell of the exhaust. People in the US are generally uneducated about the benefits of owning a diesel powered vehicle.

And that's a shame because today's diesels are cleaner then ever, especially with the new DPF systems. If you go to Europe, more then 50% of the vehicles are diesels. If we could just change peoples perception of the loud, clanking, smelly, dirty diesels then we would all benefit from the technology and you would see diesels available in more vehicles. The Jetta TDI gets almost identical gas mileage as a Prius for nearly $10K less. You also have the option of running bio-diesel thus eliminating your dependency upon foreign oil.

Diesels rule. I have a bumper sticker on my yukon that is directed towards "tree hugger prius drivers" next time your stuck call a prius to help you, im busy helping real people. :mad2: :mad2: , those kinds of people are my REAL pet peave. HUMMER HATERS are worse.

There were rumors back in '02 that the H2 would get the duramax ( :clapping: ) dubbed the H2 Alpha, but that never happend. So I highly doubt that they will put the diesel in the T/Y. If they did though.... Sign me up and give my cc # to banks. :yesnod:
