Onstar can track these things and shut them down when they're stolen, right?

I work for a very large insurance company... it is actually very common for theives to snap off the OnStar antenna at step one, rendering the tracking and remote OnStar functions inoperable.

Save your money if you are expecting OnStar to replace LoJack on the theft recovery angle.

actully, most rentels DO NOT have onstar at all. when you order a fleet through GM you can delete options like that.

One blow crossways with a rubber mallet and a couple of snips later...

I don't have photos to post here since I would be breaking all kinds of rules to copy and paste actual claim photos. It all depends who is stealing your ride anyway... a professional or some wanna-be gangbangers on a joyride.

i think im gunna have that as a decoy from now on and have a new one put under dash or somthing like that. maybe under a running board.

but dude, that antenna is the toughest antenna i have ever had. i have gone in garages too low, and it has dented the garage door, i have even tried to rip it off my self prepared to pay for a new one, to see how secure it was. not happened, i have not tried a mallet but a hammer yes.

You took a hammer to it just to see what it can take? Mad props, I love such tests.

yes i really did. i do these tests to make sure i dont overstress the limit of little parts like these. as im sure i would scrape it on stuff like trees and such.
