Intermittant Cruise Control

I have a 99 Tahoe. The cruise control only works when it wants to! It used to work fine, but over the past year it started working some times and then doesn't work others, no matter how many times I try to energize it over either long or short trips...Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Don't have a fix, but I have the identical problem! Sometimes I can drive 100 miles using it, sometimes it won't go 1/4 of a mile before disengaging. I think there was a thread covering this a while ago that mentioned replacing the multi-function switch, but IIRC it's an expensive part.

Not sure, but maybe the Body Control Module?

Mine was bad (2007 'Hoe), and it would drop out of cruise from time to time.

Could also be caused by a vacuum leak
