Thanks for the Tahoe Forum! We just bought a 99/2dr4wdZ71 Tahoe. 166k/mi. Seems to be fairly solid for the age/mileage. Build data from GM indicates it was built with 245/75/16 tires, 6.5"x16 wheels, & 3.43 gear ratio. On line data indicates it should have had 265/75/16 tires, 7"x16 steel wheels, & 3.73 gear ratio. Which should I believe, if either?
There are skid plates under the front diff & fuel tank. It has a Z71 decal, bottom left of tailgate. GM build data indicates side trim strips, but this Base model shows no signs of ever having side trim. Paint there is original white and unblemished by adhesives.
How can we be certain it's a Z71? Thanks for taking time to help us figure out what we have....
