New Tahoe Owner - couple of questions

Just bought my first Tahoe - a 2014 2wd LT with 30K on it. Are there some starting places for keeping the Tahoe running great? I'm planning on using it for family trips, and pulling a light travel trailer. Open for any suggestions and ideas that you have seen work.

Also, looks like there is a second battery tray under the hood, can you run with dual batteries, or is this spot for something else?
