Overhead DVD on 04 Tahoe "disc format read error"

I have an 04' Tahoe with overhead rear passenger flip down DVD and it just started giving me a " disc format error" and spitting out the discs. It was working fine and just started doing this. Anyone have a similar issue or know if there is a fix or if there is no fix if there is an inexpensive replacement option?

We have an 05 Denali that started doing the same thing. Looking for an answer too.

I think you can replace the drive. If you take down the whole thing you see that it looks like a PC-DVD player. I doubt you can use a PC-DVD player but similar looking player for cars are available. Check the plugs/connections for compatability before pouring money into it though. Or maybe a dealer can get an original replacement player to make sure everything works as it should.
