I have a 2002 Suburban that the power steering stopped working. When I checked the reservoir, it was empty. I put in Syntec 10/30 (remote location..all I had) and did not regain assist nor has it used fluid. No fluid has ever show up on the ground.

The power steering pulley shaft has broken inside the unit. You will need a new power steering pump.

Not necessarily. IIRC, the shaft is a tolerance type fit. That is not to say it can not be done. There have been cases that I have seen where the pulley and belt came off.
