Power steering issues.

My PSP was leaking, so I replaced it last weekend. Now, there is a whine coming from it, and it is most noticeable when accelerating. Plus, when I am at a stop, and I turn the wheel, the engine idle changes pretty noticeably.
Whats the issue here??? Help please
I took off the serpentine belt and and the pulley spins freely. Not sure if that matters or not. It almost seems like the PSP is giving resistance that is causing the engine to lose power. I am at a loss...

Did you flush the system before running it? Sounds like a bad pump, I'm assuming it's a reman? Talk to the place that sold you the pump, get another one.
