My Yukon's tailgate has been giving me fits for several months now. It's 80 degrees here so cold isn't an issue.

When I use the electronic opener, it will raise about 3/4 of the way up then it goes all the way back down closed/latched.

If it's in the open position and I try to close it, it will go down 3/4 of the way then open all the way back up.

I replaced both strut lift supports and the problem still exists.

Anyone have a solution? I don't know if it has a sensor that somehow could be bad. I've got 48k miles on it so I'm sure it's not covered under some kind of warranty.

It DOES have a sensor. If it senses that something's getting in the way of it opening/closing, it'll reverse it's direction. That being said, I think the thing can get out of whack. I've had mine do the same thing. Seems a bit random.

This is a power liftgate I take it. I was one of the first 07 Tahoe's to have this issue. It would open and close on it's own. After several attempts to fix even getting GM involved I ended up finding out it was the rear switch in the liftgate. The electronic squeeze switch is cheap and was determined to be an issue with several other Tahoe's after mine.
