Replacing transfer case motor

Without taking off my old one, how do I know which one to buy? I have come across a few different ones. 6pin/4pin square plug, and another site I found neither one of them are compatible with the 4 button 4wheel drive button. I have a 99 Tahoe 5.7 Vortek, 4L60E transfer case with the 4 button 4x4 switch (2wd, AUTO, 4HI, 4LO).

Sounds like the np8 option. If you're buying a used one, any salvage yard will know what that is. 4l60 transmission with np8 transfer case. Pretty common setup. They can check the vin also.
