I just bought a 2001 Yukon with a 5.3. I am running at 2000 rpm's at 70 mph. This is about 250 higher than my 1997 Chevrolet K1500. My 97 gets 17 - 18 mpg and the 2001 gets 14 +/-. Bear in mind that I am driving the 97 and my wife is driving the 2001 and she likes to accelerate. I am trying to teach her that it is ok to accelerate in our Corvette but it makes the Yukon hungry. What rpm's are your trucks turning and what mpg are you getting with your similar Tahoes and Yukons? I don't feel the torque converter going into lock up so I am wondering if there is a problem there. Any thoughts?
