Thinking of trading my 02 Yukon in on the 08 Tahoe hybrid. Anybody know when we will see them at the dealers and their starting price? I see it is rated at about 21 mpg in town. I think my current Yukon gets about 12 to 13 in town. Gm is doing the right thing. It would be nice to get that milage and still have a vehicle that you can haul the family with all our gear and go off roading in.

Saw this earlier:
"Pricing for the Tahoe will initially be set as $49,590 for the 2WD and $52,395 for the 4X4 and don't forget the $900 destination charge and any options although the standard equipment list is very generous.

Production on the Hybrid Tahoe began earlier this month, the few vehicles rolling off the line are enduring a plethora of tests to ensure a quality product reaches the consumer just after the first of the year."

And I thought my 02 Yukon was expensive at about 40k!! These vehicles now cost more than the price I paid for my house in 1978!! Well if I could get at least 15k for my perfectly good Yukon that will help. Hopefully the dealers won't sell them for more than the sticker price. I know they will be at a premium and it will be a sellers market though.

Just remember you can sleep in your truck but you can't drive your house to work.

Lets see, a nice gas Tahoe would cost about $40k. The new hybrid is about $50k. That's $10k difference and at the current gas price of $3/gallon, I could buy about 3333 gallons of gas for the difference. And if the gas Tahoe gets about 15mpg average you could drive 50000 miles for the cost difference. That could be about five years of driving for a typical driver. It seems that it is not worth it until gas gets to $5/gallon. Just my opinion!!
