Has anyone tinted the windshield of a tahoe/yukon 2002-2006? I don't mean just the top 6 inches, I mean the whole thing. I have done it on two of my others SUVs and it looks incredible. Only thing is the glass on those trucks was only curved left to right so it was pretty easy.

The glass on my denali appears to be curved in both directions, so it will have to be wet or dry shrank. Someone out there has to have done it. If you have tips/advice they would be a big help. I'm already aware of the legality on this issue.

Thanks.

You'll have to use a high quality film that shrinks and conforms easily such as Solar-gaurd. The closer you can trim it to the edges, the easier it will be. You'll have to heat and slowly push the "fingers" out. You're going to have a lot of big fingers and you'll have to break them down into smaller ones or you'll risk creasing the film. And make sure you're shrinking the fingers in the right direction or they'll crease. The film will usually only shrink one way. Lay the film across the windshield horizontally like it comes off the roll, and push all the fingers to the top and bottom edges of the film. I usually heat the fingers on the inside to shrink, then apply heat to the outside of the glass to stick stubborn parts of the film.

Anytime.
I forgot to mention this, but lay the film on the outside of the w/s first, using a solution of soap and water. Trim the edges, then use a heat gun to shrink and get all the fingers out. Then lay it on the inside. This will make it tons easier when your trying to lay it on the inside.

Here are a few pics with my whole front winshield tinted 35%. I use Solar Gard HP Smoke series.

I tint windows for a living. Also note, I have 5% over everything else which makes the front winshield a little darker. I also do not have a sunroof to let the light through.

I'm so tempted to try this, one of my buddies has 35% on his H2, and the other has 45% on his blazer... they keep telling me to go for it...

What it like to drive with the windshield tinted like that, I mean everyday driving and especially nighttime? Is it practical? Just curious!!

I'd love to do this to, but What do you do when its time to change your stickers? (I know not every state has window stickers but mine does)

Here are a few pics I tried to take while driving at night. I'm only using a 2 MegaPixel cell phone so pics aren't the greatest. 35% is really not bad. Once you start to go 20% and darker, it's hard to tell you have your headlights on (unless you have hid's of course.)

I tint front windshields all the time and everyone loves it. I work at a car audio shop in Green Bay and we do all the work for the Packers. They all want their front windshields done. Most of the time they do 5% all around, 20% front winshield.

Here's a couple more pics of a front windshield. My buddy's A4 with 35% on every window (windshield too) that I did. It looks awesome. Every window with the same shade of tint of badass looking. I also put the Audi rings in 20% in the back window. Then did the 35% layer over it.

I don't have hid's yet (they are ordered though.)

Right now I have PlasmaGlow in there because it's what we carry at our store.

inspection stickers are not an issue. my roomate from college inspects my car. if you don't know someone, everyone knows the value of a good tip. if they don't, the next guy will...

if state troopers can rock 20% tint, so will I.

I tint windows (or used to) on the side. Since i'm not an authorized shop, i get my tint from some dude who only sells madico.

What are you odds you would shrink a 35% peice over your windshield and then leave the backing on, roll it up into a tube, and mail it to me? I'm in mass.

As long as the package doesn't go thru drastic temperature changes it should be ok. I can do it. But mine is a 2000. Not sure how different the windshield is on a 2006.

Edit: Would also have to make sure the rear view mirror attachment is in the same place unless you would want that left uncut.
