Not sure if this belongs here or not. If not please redirect me.

I have an '03 Yukon XL with the 5.3. The check engine symbol has been illuminated for several months now. I tried to read the codes at the local parts house but the device doesn't seem to make a connection. You plug it in the socket under the dash and the device never powers up. I have done this at two different parts houses (Advance and Auto Zone). Does anyone have any idea why this is happeing or if there is another way to read these codes.

check your cig. lighter fuse under the hood in the underhood fuse center.

That fuse supplies power to the DLC, which is the connector that you plug the scanner into.

I haven't checked the DLC connector yet, but the fuse was blown. I replaced it and I hope to get that code read in the next couple of days. Thanks again for the help.
