Does anyone know if any company makes an aftermarket (Billet or mesh) grill for the Tahoe Hybrid? The lower half of the grill is different from the regular 'Hoes, so I can't get an LTZ grill from the dealer.

Thanks

The grill on the Hybrid was designed to be lightweight which = better gas mileage. If you get the aftermarket grill, you may defeat the purpose of having a hybrid.

I realize that, but a couple pounds won't affect gas mileage...that's like saying you have the capability to carry 8 passengers, but if you carry more that two you defeat the purpose of the hybrid due to the extra weight.

If you haven't looked on Ebay, I don't know what else to tell you. I think it's gonna be a few more months before you start seeing aftermarket grilles. Out of curiosity, what did you pay at the end for your Hybrid? (If you care to tell us of course) And what kinda MPG are you averaging? I'm just curious.

Great Question I'd love to know the answer to! (or not) I was at the dealer wish washing between Hybrid and Non. I went with Non-Hybrid because I didn't trust the numbers. A friend of mine has a Prius (sad i know) but he gets about 42mpg, when it was rated at 60mpg. I get about 18 in my Yukon now, the Hybrid claimed 20 I think.

Anyone see the commercial for the ESCALADE HYBRID? Snazy, but again, worth it?

Hmmm, I just feel like the current Hybrids are just an early evolutionary stage of the ultimate product. Like it will be obsolete technology in a couple of years. Though I did ride in one and was impressed at how it skips the low mileage range while taking off.

I bought it during the Employee Pricing Sale at the end of August. We paid $41,000.00. I'm not sure of the MPG, because I'm overseas. When I was home and drove it..I was averaging 22 MPG in the city. Driving on the highyway, I was getting 24.5 MPG.

That's impressive gas mileage you are getting!

May I ask what's your avaerage speed and load (speed. persons on board etc) when you get those numbers?

35-50 in the city with the tahoe hybrid ... i thought it was rated 24 or something

He is talking speed limits ranging from 35mph to 50mph, not mpg. He's getting in the neighborhood of 22mpg in the city which is awesome for a big rig like these. :yesnod:

It was two adults and two children under 9. I was doing the posted speed limit ranging from 60-70 mph on average for highway and anywhere from 35-50 mph for city driving.

Thanks for your prompt reply!

I am in the market for a SUV and looking at the Tahoe, Yukon and the Hybrid seems very attractive due the the fact I drive a lot and I think I can save money in the long run besides doing our part for our Planet.

I know it might never happen but I would love to see a long wheel base Hybrid so I can take a lot with me during longer trips :D..................may be a Hybrid Yukon XL or the Escalade ESV....!!??

Forgot to ask you: do you know if there is any difference in terms of interior space / trunk space on your Hybrid vs non-Hybrid Tahoe?

I just want to know do you have to sacrifice some room / storage space for the batteries.

The only difference I can see in interior space is under the 2nd row of seats. The hybrid can't have the bucket seats and has to have a 60/40 bench b/c the batteries are under there.

This is off topic but Dubai is doing testing with the Tahoe Hybrids as Taxi's. They have 10 Tahoe Hybrids and have plans to start replacing the vans with these hybrid Tahoe's. My guess would be that they have to be worth it and very good to be used as taxi's. Sucks that my Denali and a taxi will be very similar.

I think I need to pay my dealer a visit to check out the Hybrid in person.
