Attempt the relearn procedure first. If the vehicle still doesn't recgonize the sensor then most likely it is defective. Cause can range from debris/salt/rain causing corrossion on the device. Pretty inexpensive replacement.

Is the nav volume up all the way? Start there and see if that fixes the problem. You can access it through the touchscreen settings.
