how to replace rear output shaft seal (slip yoke seal) 4wd?

I pulled my rear driveshaft out and took it to have it balanced and new u joints put in last week. Now I'm leaking fluid out from where it plugs in to the transfer case. I've never done one of these before and it's probably real simple and I'm over thinking it but alldata/service manual simply...

    remove intake silencer "vortec" box?

I should have got the 2" like the other dude said, 2" looked way too big, I bought a 1.5" and thought it might've even looked a little big, but it was too small. exchanging tomorrow. Is all that box is for is just making things quiter? I know my brother the home depot cai wizard took off...

    Why All the Tranny Hate?

I've also heard old fluid carries with it in a suspension particles of worn clutch packs and other junk that helps everything work right and when you put new atf in, since the clutch packs and other magical transmission stuff are missing the material and now the fluid is too, problems!

    Painting the frame

I'm borrowing my brothers 6hp power washer this weekend for something else but this sounds like a good idea. I think I'll give it a try too. I'm gonna be kinda ghetto though, just rattle-canning the parts you can see under the doors mainly and maybe the rear axle and stuff. there's probably...

    auto to manual hub swap

I found the TSB that says the front and rear driveshafts should be going the same speed in 2hi. this is in regards to NP8 pushbutton autotrak transfer cases tsb # 02-04-21-005A Slips in 4-Wheel Drive, Noise, Vibration, Leaks, Hot Odor (Diagnose and Repair Front Differential and/or Transfer...

    auto to manual hub swap

cool thanks for the explanations guys. didn't mean to hijack the other dudes thread. I remember seeing a tsb, I don't remember what for but it was talking about an np8 pushbutton transfer case and having a tech 2 hooked up to read the front and rear driveshaft rpms in 2hi and said they should...

    Why All the Tranny Hate?

So what's everyone's opinion on changing the fluid and filter on a high-mileage trans that it's unknown if it's been done before? I know a lot of people say don't touch it and I'm kind of starting to be on their side as of a year ago. I bought my tahoe with 135k miles. should I do it or not...

    Broken Exterior Door Handle

I can see where it could get confusing with some of the stuff on autozone shelves called "oem replacements" or the company called "OE solutions" or even better, I bought a new plastic upper intake for a 3.8 v6 and the brand name was "OEM" I guess they're counting on people hearing "buy OEM!"...

    auto to manual hub swap

I don't understand a lot about how the 4wd system works and this'd seem like a good thread to ask. What all is spinning up front in 2hi? I know the front driveshaft still spins in 2 hi, the cv shafts obviously do, so are they all 3 just spinning but not connected in the diff until you engage...

    Diff Injection system

It comes with a distributorless ignition too, neat, but at $1400 and having to get an aftermarket custom pcm and harness I'd rather go for a 5.3 or 6.0 with pcm that already has that good stuff from craigslist for way less $$. also that thing's way tall, maybe need a cowl induction hood and it...

    remove intake silencer "vortec" box?

Yeah I'm just talking about the box over the dist that does nothing. I'm not going to go try and make a whole cold (hot) air intake out of home depot stuff like my brother does every time he gets a new car. (and then goes back to stock air intake months later)

    remove intake silencer "vortec" box?

Just wondering what's the best way to get rid of this thing, what to block off the hole with? I don't think it'd make any performance improvement but it is ugly, in the way, and it's called a silencer. 3 strikes, sounds like it needs to go to me. The LT1 caprice/roadmaster people had a huge...

Variable steering stuck at max looseness. help!

I didn't end up experimenting with resistors and don't think I will now. I woke up late this morning and only had until noon to go to the chevy dealer to get the sensor, didn't leave me enough time to try resistors and still buy the sensor if I couldn't find a good ohm-value one to use so I...

    Rear windows questions?

I've read it on the here that the tahoes can't do it because the back doors are notched for the wheel wells. Somebody in that thread also said suburbans can do it since they have straight no-notch back doors. I've always since I was a kid thought back windows on all kinds of cars didn't open...

Synthetic oil changeover in high mileage engine

I usually switch to mobil as soon as I buy something. The tahoe I didn't have much money when it was time for the first oil change but I put in mobil 0w30 last weekend. My dad and I both use mobil 1 and do 10,000 mile oil changes, 5000 mile mobil filter changes. I've been doing it since I...

Variable steering stuck at max looseness. help!

I'm thinking about experimenting with exactly this tomorrow before I try replacing the sensor. Where did you get the 5 ohm value from? I know I saw a webpage earlier today at work that showed some values of what it should be at what steering angle but now I can't find it. all I know is above...

Variable steering stuck at max looseness. help!

Well I guess my sensor is bad, it spiked up to 17k ohms a few times while I was turning the wheel. Stupid me didn't check to see where I could buy one though until all the dealers are closed. I read oreillys was supposed to have it, I called and they have to order it. I guess I'm waiting...

    Turn signal flasher on 95

weird. you got me curious and I pulled mine out and I get no hazards or turns. mine's a 99 though and you wouldn't think there'd really be a difference but maybe so. Do you have the Z82 trailering package? I do but I wouldn't think that'd be any different up front, just some extra wires in back.

    Turn signal flasher on 95

that ones the chime for leaving your lights on or keys in I think. And the one you're calling hazard I think is the turn signal one, I've never heard of a separate flasher for hazards but then again except for last week, I've never seen anything done with a flasher since I was a little kid and...

Variable steering stuck at max looseness. help!

I checked the wires, to the sensor anyway they are plugged in. I couldn't find any wires up front, I thought the actual valve is supposed to be on the pump or on the gear somewhere, didn't see anything. I did find this: http://www.justanswer.com/questions/m04x-97-k2500-7-4-suburban-electronic...
