2019 Tahoe Z71: USB Port Behind the Screen

The USB port in compartment behind the screen is the only port which does not recognize a media player (iPod Touch in this case). Was told by the dealership service that this port was a "charge only" port. Seems really odd to me that the most inaccessible port would be charge only. I would think I'd wear out the screen lift motor if that's where I wanted to charge my devices.
Does any one else have experience to the contrary.

OK. Since no one is contradicting this information, I guess it WAS in fact designed to be that way.

It is a regular USB port, capable of charging and playing on MyLink. That's how mine works.
