Hey guess I have a question about the motor in a 95 tahoe. I currently have a 96 s10 I am trying to swap out the 4.3l vortec and drop in a 350 vortec. I was wondering if the 95 tahoe had a vortec motor in it.. I found a listing for one but wasnt sure because alot of ppl tell me the vortec didnt start till 96

They are correct, the vortec did not start until 96'. I have two 95's, a pickup with a standard transmission and a Tahoe with an automatic trans. The 95' model 350 is a good dependable motor with the Throttle Body Injection. It has 210hp stock, which should be more than enough for you S10.

the vortec has an estimated 220 to 240.. i heard somewhere in between, but dont take my whole word for it. I dont think any motor you try to jsut drop in would work, unless its for the s10. ovcourse youll have to change the motor mounts, some sensors, exhaust, oilpan stuff.. just to name a couple..

There Vortec engine is good for 255 horsepower, and 330 ft/lbs. of torque. Although, it would be quite a project to get the vortec in your S10, because you are going to need to get a whole new wiring harness and the computer will have to be reprogrammed (or changed all together, I'm not sure how the computer in a 1996 S10 is setup... it is a normal OBD2 black box computer?). The Vortec engine with the MPFI take a lot of sensory input to run, so there is a lot of wiring and such. The TBI would be a lot more simple, as you would only need an OBD1 (or after market) computer, and a very simple and much cheaper wiring harness.

Or you could just go with a carburetor, or go with an after market fuel injection system that comes with everything you need.

i believe my s10 is a obd2 and from what I understand since i have the 4.3 vortec my motor mounts do not need to be changed and most of the stuff will work.
