'99 Tahoe Engine Swap

174k miles later, no oil pressure. Dropped the oil pan only to find good size chunks of shiny metal!

Time for an engine swap. I'm trying to see what advice you all have with what crate motor out there is best for the buck.

Can I legally upgrade to something better than the stock 290HP replacement? I live in Cali. Needs to be smog legal. With gas these days it needs to be 30mpg. ha! (just checking to see if you were awake!)

You can legally go to anything you want as long as you keep all the saftey devices, and smog stuff.. - you can go up to the 6.0 or swap out to diesel if you like.. but i reccomend the HT383e since its bolt-in and PCM friendly
