I need to replace an alternator for a 1997 Tahoe with 197k. Looking on-line I find different amps available; 105, 124, 140 and 150. I have AC and don't use the vehicle for towing. Opinions on what to select are greatly appreciated.
I also see models with plastic back covers and a few without covers. What's the difference?

typically, the mounting is different between the 105a and the higher amperage alternators. Call a gm dealer and give them the last 8 digits of the vin and they can tell you what you have. Or, tell me the last 8 and I can check as I work at a gm dealer.
