I am looking at some used Tahoes around 2004-2005. I have noticed that some have a black plastic molding around the wheel wells and some do not. I am not talking about Z71s, just LT models.
I wonder what this signifies? Why some and not others?

Also some have climate control, while others have the sliders for temp. Usually these are packaged options so if you don't get climate control, what else don't you get?

Lastly, does anybody know what years the satellite radio became standard?

Thanks and I look forward to visiting here much more soon.

The black plastic molding doesn't signify anything, it is just the fender flare option. You can get it on LS, LT, and Z71 models, but it is only standard on Z71's, option on LS and LT. Black, blue, and gray Tahoes will have a black plastic fender flare and all the other colors will be painted the same color as the paint.

The auto climate control is only standard on the LT's but is optional on the Z71's (most Z's are going to have it), but the slider is standard on the LS. I don't think auto climate was available on LS models, but somebody else can verify that.

I don't think XM was standard until the 2007 (NBS) model year. Most 2003-2006 Tahoe LT's will have XM, a lot of the Z71's will, and none of the LS models will. Both my 2004 LT and the 2003 Z71 I used to own have XM. You can tell if it has XM or not because it will have 2 little modules above the windshield on the top of the truck (one for Onstar, one for XM) and if it doesn't have XM there will just be the one for Onstar.

Thanks I appreciate the info, but.... It's too late! I just came home with an 2005 Tahoe LT, dark blue, 43K, everything but Nav.
Needs a little work, but I got a great price I can't wait to get started.
It needs tires, but I may use this opportunity to put on 20s. I saw some 20" 2008 Tahoe take offs that would look sweet. It also needs a tail light housing, some chump seems to have cleaned it with carb cleaner. I think a battery too.

I literally got home 10 minutes ago and it is raining so I will have me head straight tomorrow.

Thanks

Nice ride! Did it come with the 20"s? The deals on these things are amazing. I paid not much more than a buddy that just bought a used, stripped Camry.

Thanks. I just noticed, 4 months later, that this picture was taken when my little brother swapped my GA tag with a Bama tag to mess with me :mad2:... just clearin that up... I'm definitely not a Bama fan haha.

ha ha. I wondered about that, glad you cleared that up. Thats like when my little brother decided to take the hick town licence plate off my jeep and put a rebel flag on it. I thought it was kinda cool until i went in to the ghetto and got dirty looks, glad i was not killed:smilielol:

Mike,

The Yukon came with the stock 17" wheels. A friend of mine who owns a local mechanic shop hooked me up with the 20'' wheels and tires for $1100! They were closeout TIS wheels that he had in the storage room since 2006 and they forgot about them.

I was very pleased with the price I paid for the Yukon. The stealership was asking $21,500 and I told them they were absolutely nuts. When they "heavily reduced" the price to $19,500, I said "see ya and have a nice day". I told the salesman that it was 9/29 (two days left in the month) and I was the only customer in the joint, " Do you REALLY want me to go across the street and buy the Escalade I'm looking at for their advertised price of $17,900? My offer of $15,900 stands, take it or leave it". Well, they took it. The salesman, who is also a motorcyclist like myself, told me a few days later that it was the lowest price he'd seen on such a clean and recently new Yukon (2005). Between the Yuke, wheels and the 12K/12 month warranty I purchased for $500, I'm in for a whopping total of $17.5K. I'm ecstatic!!! :)

Yes I have the XM and I activated it yesterday. For $4 a month more, I got the "Best of Sirius" which has Howard Stern, Nascar and a few more.

So far all I can tell is I don't have NAV and Autoride, which I thought was standard on an LT? Should be OK since I rarely load it up and will likely do a small drop 2/1 or 3/1.

I paid $16,000 out the door(no tax, I had a trade in). They were asking $20K and the day before I went, the online price went to $18K. I was going to offer $17K, but then I figured they are never shy to low ball someones trade so I offered $15K. In a few minutes we were at $16K and I held my ground. This included title and plate transfer.

I wouldn't say it is mint or anything, but has a few dings, small scratches, etc. I spent yesterday cleaning it up, getting the wax out of the plastic trim, changing a bulb, doing the wheels, waxing it, etc. It looks a lot better already.

Certified for just 500? I was wondering what that would run. Great deal. I hope I can do the same.
