I have an 04 Tahoe z71. Engine code z (flex fuel). I changed the oil today and after driving 20 miles on brand new mobil1 5w30 and a Bosch premium filter I have loud knocks coming from the bottom end. I owe a lot of money in taxes and a baby due in April. Does anyone know why this is happening? This truck has 115k and was owned by a police officer who took very good care of it. I changed the oil from valvoline fully synthetic and it previously had the same filter that I just put on. I know these are noisy motors as is but this noise just started and I don't think it's the common piston slap or lifter problems.

Sounds like a good possibility that your engine it toast but I'd get it into a reputable mechanic as soon as possible.
