2004 Tahoe
Firestone Destination A/T tires

Truck has 70k miles. Not sure if tires have 70k,
bought truck from private owner a year ago.

The front tires have started to wear on the outside
edge, about 1-1/2 inches inward from shoulder.
Is this due to bad alignment/camber/toe-in/whatever
or tire pressure? The max tire pressure on the tire
sidewalls is 44 psi. The Tahoe door says to use 32 psi.
The tires were all at 32 psi. For now I have raised all
of them to 40 psi.

Has anyone seen this kind of wear? If so, was it
pressure or alignement? If alignment, what had to be
done and what did it cost (could it only be done by the
dealer--I don't trust them very much)?

Thanks.

it has to be the alignment. To much air wears the middle and to little air wears the outsides of the tire

It's actually just not having the tires inflated to the required PSI.

if the wear was just on the one side then you would have a toe in or toe out issue

This is actually stated in the users manual so it's a common issue :)

Toe in problem, could also be lack of rotation. Front tires working too much and wear outside edge, rears look like new. Low air pressure wear inside and outside edges, too much air wears the center. 35 psi should be fine in those.
