Help, Rat Blood!

So I started up my truck to pull it in to the garage tonight, the steering was locked, so I put it park to investigate.
There is a half dead rat pumping blood on to my nice clean garage floor.
He has managed to completely dislodge the fan belt on his way out of this world.
Is this related to the steering issue or has he chewed through some wires to?

Is there an easy way to get the belt back on?

Well, after you remove the dead rat and clean out your engine bay, step back and take a look at the engine bay. On the top left of the front of the engine you should see a small pulley, not driving anything at all. That's the belt tensioner. Take a 15mm (probably, it is on mine) wrench and turn the nut to the right. the entire pulley will move. Slip the belt back into place and over that pulley, then let it go. Done! :cool2:

Might be because the power steering pump wasn't working when you tried to drive it, since the serpentine belt was dislodged. Get back to us when you get the belt back on. That could cause the steering to feel as if it's locked.

I have had a steering wheel lock up when there was the right amount of tension on it and in the locked position. To release it you have to pull (sometimes very hard) right or left while turning the key to release. Hope this helps

What a little bastard! I'm sure the p/s pump will work fine once it builds pressure, I'd get a new serp belt just to ensure you don't throw it due to posthumous rat revenge.

All is back to normal no though, thanks guys.
