 Changed my oil yesterday and there was only about 2 quarts in there.. Changed it after sitting for about 2 months, and to my surprise it was wasy low. I usually only drive from NJ to SC about 2-3 times a year with occasional distance driving in between. From Dec 07 to 2-08 I used it as a commuter carand wasn't on top of checking the oil as it never burned any in the past. It's got 105k on it and I didn't get any indications from the oil pressure gauge, and it's not leaking because I garage and the floor is clean as a whistle. Did I kill it and is there any remediation I should perform other than STAYING on top of the oil stick.

Make sure you check your engine coolant too, to ensure you didn't have an intake gasket let go, and blow oil into the coolant. Though, usually it goes the other way.

The engine coolant was low as I started checking every fluid I could after seeing the oil that low. How do I check to see if an intake gasket did let go?

Yeah, you may have been steadily been loosing coolant from a lower intake manifold leak. You can read about my 99 yukon here.

you have to visually check it, for me I could smell something was wrong and finally dealt with the situation after looking for the leak forever. Finally it got bad enough and I was filling the coolant a lot, so me and Jiminey fixed it.
I hope it helps you a little bit to find your problem. 105K is just perfect timing for this too, and it happens to all of us. :)

for your oil going away that much. hmm i dunno. Maybe you could drive it around a little more often if thats possible? give it a wash and some lovin or something? :D

Oh it gets that on the regular! lol

But on another note I took it to Precision Tune in Aiken, SC because I developed a a radiator leak on my road trip from NJ. Turns out I got gasket a gasket leak as well as radiator leak, and some connectors corroding. All total they estimate about 1100 dollars. Thinking about letting her hibernate until next tax season when I should have the money to put into her. Either way I won't be driving her much if at all until I can get the repairs done. But she ran 80mph most of the 695 miles there and back. I used stop leak on the radiator and it worked but will still replace it anyway.
